Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry sheets
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 0.5 cup cranberries (optional, for garnish)
  • 2 tbsp chopped chives (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2

Remove the puff pastry sheets from the freezer and let them thaw at room temperature for 10-15 minutes until pliable but still cold.

Step 3

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, garlic powder, dried parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined and smooth.

Step 4

Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out each puff pastry sheet to slightly flatten and even out the surface.

Step 5

Using a 2-3 inch round cookie cutter or the rim of a glass, cut out circles from the puff pastry sheets. Re-roll scraps to cut out more circles, as needed.

Step 6

Place half of the pastry circles on the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 1 inch of space between each.

Step 7

Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each circle.

Step 8

Brush the edges of the pastry circles with a light coating of the egg wash (whisk together the egg and water).

Step 9

Top each filled circle with another pastry circle, pressing the edges gently to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges securely.

Step 10

Brush the tops of the assembled puffs with more egg wash for a golden finish.

Step 11

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the puffs are golden brown and puffed up.

Step 12

Remove the puffs from the oven and let cool slightly on the baking sheets.

Step 13

If desired, garnish each puff with a small piece of cranberry and a sprinkle of chopped chives for a festive touch.

Step 14

Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy!
