Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 stalks green onion
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 leaves lettuce
  • 4 tomato slices
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise

Directions

Step 1

Mince the garlic and finely chop the green onions.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, hoisin sauce, garlic, green onion, soy sauce, sesame oil, panko breadcrumbs, and egg. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty about 3/4-inch thick. Press a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

Step 4

Heat a grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates or skillet to prevent sticking.

Step 5

Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for medium doneness. Avoid pressing down on the patties to retain juiciness.

Step 6

While the patties cook, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers by spreading 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun. Layer with a leaf of lettuce, a cooked patty, and a tomato slice. Top with the other half of the bun.

Step 8

Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes like fries or a fresh salad.
