Ingredients

  • 2 cups Whole wheat flour
  • 0.75 cups Water
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 cup Paneer (Indian cottage cheese), crumbled
  • 0.5 cup Cooked black beans, mashed
  • 0.5 cup Grated carrots
  • 0.5 cup Finely chopped spinach
  • 1 piece Green chilies, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon Soy sauce
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper powder
  • 2 tablespoons Coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon Oil (for greasing)

Directions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead into a smooth and firm dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 15 minutes.

Step 2

In another bowl, prepare the filling by mixing crumbled paneer, mashed black beans, grated carrots, chopped spinach, green chilies (if using), grated ginger, soy sauce, black pepper powder, and chopped coriander leaves. Stir well to combine all ingredients evenly.

Step 3

Divide the dough into small, equal portions and roll each portion into a thin circle, approximately 3 inches in diameter.

Step 4

Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each dough circle. Gently fold the edges upwards and pleat to seal the top, forming a momo. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.

Step 5

Grease a steamer tray lightly with oil to prevent sticking. Place the momos on the tray, ensuring they do not touch each other.

Step 6

Bring water to a boil in a steamer pot, then place the tray with the momos inside. Steam the momos on medium heat for 10-12 minutes or until the outer covering becomes glossy and cooked through.

Step 7

Carefully remove the momos from the steamer and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
