Ingredients

  • 500 grams bottle gourd (lauki)
  • 100 grams split chickpeas (chana dal)
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 medium tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the split chickpeas thoroughly and soak them in water for at least 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Peel the bottle gourd and cut it into small cubes.

Chop the onion and tomatoes finely.

Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
