Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves, chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 pieces burger buns
  • 4 pieces lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices sliced tomatoes
  • 4 rings sliced red onion
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese slices (optional)
  • 3 tbsp ketchup or other condiments (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, parsley, cilantro, thyme, rosemary, garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until evenly combined but be careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a burger patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

Step 3

Heat a grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly brush each patty with olive oil to prevent sticking.

Step 4

Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired doneness. For medium, cook to an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C). If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.

Step 5

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster for extra flavor and texture.

Step 6

Assemble the burgers by layering the bottom half of each bun with a lettuce leaf, a slice of tomato, a slice of red onion, and the cooked patty. Add condiments such as ketchup, mustard, or mayo as desired. Top with the other half of the bun.

Step 7

Serve immediately with fries, a side salad, or your favorite accompaniments. Enjoy your herby, juicy burgers!
