Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 0.25 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.

Step 2

Once the oil is hot, add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side until pink and opaque. Transfer the shrimp to a plate and set aside.

Step 3

In the same skillet, add the butter and let it melt over medium heat. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Step 4

Lower the heat to medium-low and stir in the heavy cream. Allow it to simmer gently for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 5

Add the Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Continue stirring until the cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth.

Step 6

Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss them in the sauce to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.

Step 7

Remove the skillet from the heat and sprinkle the dish with chopped fresh parsley.

Step 8

Serve immediately over a bed of rice, pasta, or alongside crusty bread to soak up the creamy sauce. Garnish with extra parsley and a lemon wedge if desired.
