Ingredients

  • 500 grams lean ground turkey
  • 0.5 cups rolled oats
  • 1 large, grated carrot
  • 1 medium, grated zucchini
  • 1 small, finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves, minced garlic
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.25 cups unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoons paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.25 cups ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a loaf pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, rolled oats, grated carrot, grated zucchini, chopped onion, and minced garlic.

Step 3

Add the egg, unsweetened applesauce, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, paprika, black pepper, and salt to the bowl. Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated, but avoid overmixing.

Step 4

Transfer the turkey mixture to the prepared loaf pan and press it down gently to form an even layer.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup and Dijon mustard. Spread this glaze evenly over the top of the loaf.

Step 6

Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 50 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) when tested with a meat thermometer.

Step 7

Once done, remove the loaf from the oven and let it rest in the pan for 5-10 minutes to allow the juices to settle.

Step 8

Carefully slice the loaf into even portions and serve warm. Pair with a side of roasted vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
