Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Button mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • 0.25 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Soy sauce
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese slices
  • 4 pieces Hamburger buns

Directions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, season the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Divide the meat into 4 equal portions and shape into burger patties.

Step 2

Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Set them aside and cover loosely with foil to keep warm.

Step 3

In another skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for 5-7 minutes until tender and browned.

Step 4

Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir well to coat. Cook for 1 minute to remove the raw flour taste.

Step 5

Slowly add the beef broth to the skillet, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens. Reduce the heat to low.

Step 6

Stir in the heavy cream and soy sauce. Cook for 2-3 more minutes, then remove the skillet from the heat. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Step 7

To assemble the burgers, place one cooked patty on the bottom half of each hamburger bun. Top each patty with a slice of Swiss cheese while still warm so it melts slightly.

Step 8

Spoon a generous amount of the mushroom sauce over the cheese, then place the top half of the bun on each burger.

Step 9

Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade Hardee's Mushroom and Swiss Burger!
