Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese (slices)
  • 4 pieces Hamburger buns (sesame seed preferred)
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 4 pieces Lettuce leaves
  • 1 large Tomato (sliced)
  • 1 small Red onion (sliced into rings)
  • 8 pieces Pickle slices
  • 4 tbsp Ketchup
  • 4 tbsp Mayonnaise

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 2

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty approximately 3/4 inch thick. Use your thumb to press a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Step 3

Preheat a grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates or pan to prevent sticking.

Step 4

Place the patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on the first side, or until nicely browned. Flip the patties and continue cooking for another 4-5 minutes, or until they reach your desired level of doneness (145°F for medium-rare, 160°F for medium).

Step 5

About 1 minute before the patties are done, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.

Step 6

While the patties are cooking, toast the hamburger buns. Spread a small amount of butter on the cut sides of each bun and place them cut-side-down on the grill or in a skillet. Toast until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 7

To assemble the burgers, spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun. Top with a lettuce leaf, a tomato slice, and a grilled patty with melted cheese.

Step 8

Add a few slices of red onion and pickles on top of the patty, then drizzle 1 tablespoon of ketchup over the toppings. Close the burger with the top bun.

Step 9

Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes like fries or coleslaw. Enjoy your Hard Rock Cafe-inspired cheeseburger!
