Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup rice
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp parsley
  • 2 stalks green onions (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Finely dice the onion and mince the garlic. Divide the onion into two portions; one for the hamburger patties and one for cooking the rice.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, half of the diced onion, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until combined.

Step 3

Shape the beef mixture into 4-5 equal hamburger patties. Set aside on a plate.

Step 4

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Sear the patties for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned but not fully cooked. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and the other half of the diced onion. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.

Step 6

Stir in the paprika and tomato paste, cooking for 1 minute to release their flavors.

Step 7

Add the rice to the skillet and stir to coat it in the tomato and onion mixture.

Step 8

Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat to low and carefully place the seared patties on top of the rice.

Step 9

Cover the skillet with a lid and let the dish simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed the liquid, and the hamburgers are fully cooked through.

Step 10

Once everything is cooked, remove the skillet from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Step 11

Sprinkle the dish with chopped parsley and sliced green onions, if desired. Serve warm and enjoy your Hamburgers Rice!
