Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 medium, sliced Yellow onion
  • 8 oz, sliced Mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

Step 2

Mix gently until just combined. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape into patties about 1/2 inch thick.

Step 3

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 4

Add the hamburger patties to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and mushrooms. Sauté for 6-7 minutes until softened and slightly caramelized.

Step 6

Sprinkle the flour over the onions and mushrooms, stirring constantly, and cook for 1 minute to eliminate the raw flour taste.

Step 7

Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring to combine and scraping any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.

Step 8

Add the soy sauce and let the gravy simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened.

Step 9

Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet, spooning some of the gravy over the top.

Step 10

Simmer for an additional 5 minutes to fully warm through and meld the flavors.

Step 11

Serve the hamburger steaks topped with the onion and mushroom gravy. Enjoy!
