Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp Paprika
  • 4 pcs Cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 pcs Hamburger buns
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 4 pcs Lettuce leaves
  • 8 pcs Tomato slices
  • 4 pcs Red onion slices
  • 8 pcs Pickle slices
  • 4 tbsp Mayonnaise
  • 4 tbsp Ketchup
  • 2 tsp Mustard

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, slightly larger than the size of the buns. Use your thumb to make a shallow indention in the middle of each patty to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.

Step 3

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly grease with oil if using a skillet.

Step 4

Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on one side, until nicely browned. Flip them over and cook for another 3 minutes. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and allow it to melt. Remove the patties from heat and set them aside to rest.

Step 5

Spread butter on the inside of each bun half. Toast the buns on the grill or skillet until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 6

In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard together to create the special sauce.

Step 7

Assemble the hamburgers: Spread special sauce on the bottom half of each bun, then layer with lettuce, a cooked patty, tomato slices, onion slices, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.

Step 8

Serve immediately with your choice of sides, such as French fries or a fresh salad. Enjoy your Hamburger Special!
