Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 16 oz (1 can) Refried beans
  • 1 cup Salsa
  • 2 cups Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 oz Cream cheese, softened
  • 1 packet (1 oz) Taco seasoning
  • 2 tbsp Jalapeños, sliced (optional)
  • 2 Green onions, chopped, for garnish
  • 1 bag (for serving) Tortilla chips

Directions

Step 1

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until it is browned and no longer pink, about 5–7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

Step 2

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for another 3–5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the onion softens and becomes translucent.

Step 3

Stir in the taco seasoning and cook for 1 minute, ensuring the beef is evenly coated with seasoning.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to low and add the refried beans, salsa, cream cheese, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese to the skillet. Stir until everything is well combined and the mixture is smooth.

Step 5

Transfer the mixture to a 9x9-inch baking dish or an oven-safe skillet. Spread it out evenly.

Step 6

Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the mixture.

Step 7

Optional: Add sliced jalapeños on top for a spicy kick.

Step 8

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the dip in the oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese on top is melted and bubbly.

Step 9

Remove the dish from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Step 10

Serve warm with tortilla chips for dipping. Enjoy!
