Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • 50 grams breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium (sliced thin) onion
  • 200 grams (sliced) mushrooms
  • 250 milliliters beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully incorporated.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into round patties, about 1.5 cm thick.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side until browned. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil and sauté the sliced onion and mushrooms until they are softened, about 5 minutes.

Step 5

Pour the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce into the skillet. Stir well and bring it to a simmer.

Step 6

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water together to create a slurry. Add this mixture to the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.

Step 7

Return the browned patties to the skillet, spoon the sauce over them, and let them simmer together for 10 minutes over low heat, allowing the flavors to meld.

Step 8

Remove from heat and serve the patties smothered in the sauce with your choice of sides.
