Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds Ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 pieces Hamburger buns
  • 4 pieces Lettuce leaves
  • 1 large Tomato
  • 0.5 medium Red onion
  • 8 slices Pickle slices
  • 4 tablespoons Ketchup
  • 4 tablespoons Mustard
  • 4 tablespoons Mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Butter

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, ground black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 2

Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Use your thumb to press a small indent in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.

Step 3

Preheat a large skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the surface to prevent sticking.

Step 4

Cook the burger patties for 3-4 minutes on the first side, or until a crust forms. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese melts and the patties reach your desired doneness.

Step 5

While the burgers cook, slice the hamburger buns in half and spread a thin layer of butter on the cut sides. Toast the buns on a skillet or under a broiler until golden brown.

Step 6

Prepare the toppings by washing and drying the lettuce leaves, slicing the tomato into 4 thick slices, and slicing the red onion into thin rings.

Step 7

To assemble the burgers, spread 1 tablespoon each of ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun. Stack the lettuce, tomato slice, burger patty, onion rings, and pickle slices on top. Finish with the top half of the bun.

Step 8

Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes and enjoy your Hamburger Heaven!
