Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 box Rice-a-Roni (beef flavor)
  • 2.5 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 0.5 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons onion powder
  • 0.25 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles with a wooden spoon. Drain any excess grease if necessary.

Step 2

Push the cooked ground beef to one side of the skillet and add the butter to the other side. Once the butter is melted, add the Rice-a-Roni from the box (excluding the seasoning packet) to the buttered side of the skillet.

Step 3

Toast the rice mixture for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it turns golden brown and fragrant.

Step 4

Stir the ground beef, toasted rice mixture, and beef-flavor seasoning packet (from the Rice-a-Roni box) together in the skillet.

Step 5

Pour the water into the skillet and stir to combine. Add garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper for extra flavor.

Step 6

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and simmer for 15–20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.

Step 7

Remove the skillet from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 8

Fluff with a fork and garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
