Ingredients

  • 6 lbs Bone-in ham
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 cups Apple cider
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 medium Apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 0.5 cup Raisins
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).

Step 2

Place the ham in a large roasting pan, fat side up. Cover it loosely with aluminum foil.

Step 3

Bake the ham in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until it is heated through and the internal temperature reaches 140°F (use a meat thermometer to check).

Step 4

While the ham is baking, prepare the apple raisin sauce. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

Step 5

Add the diced apples to the saucepan and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they soften slightly.

Step 6

Stir in the brown sugar, apple cider, raisins, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and salt. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the raisins are plump.

Step 7

In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water until smooth. Gradually add this mixture to the sauce, stirring constantly.

Step 8

Cook the sauce for 2-3 more minutes, or until it thickens to your desired consistency. Remove it from the heat and set aside.

Step 9

When the ham is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Step 10

Transfer the sliced ham to a serving platter and pour the apple raisin sauce over the top, or serve the sauce on the side.
