Ingredients

  • 4 whole Apples (such as Honeycrisp or Fuji)
  • 1 cup Cooked ham, diced
  • 1 cup Sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Honey (optional for a touch of sweetness)
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Wash the apples and slice off the top of each apple, about 1/2 inch from the stem end. Set the tops aside.

Step 3

Use a melon baller or small spoon to carefully hollow out the apples, leaving about 1/4 inch of flesh around the edges. Do not pierce the bottom of the apples.

Step 4

In a medium-sized bowl, combine the diced ham, grated cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, melted butter, honey (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Step 5

Spoon the ham mixture evenly into the hollowed apples, pressing gently to pack the filling. Mound any extra filling slightly above the rim of the apples.

Step 6

Place the stuffed apples in a baking dish. If desired, place the tops of the apples back on as lids for a rustic presentation.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the apples are tender but still hold their shape and the filling is golden and bubbling.

Step 8

Remove from the oven and allow the apples to cool for a few minutes before transferring to serving plates.

Step 9

Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve warm. Enjoy your delicious ham stuffed apples!
