Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 0.5 pounds ground pork
  • 0.75 cups plain breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cups milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 slices sliced deli ham
  • 4 slices sliced Swiss or cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cups ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands until everything is just combined—avoid over-mixing.

Place the meat mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, and flatten it into a rectangular shape, about 1 inch thick.
