Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Puff pastry sheets
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Olive oil
  • 200 grams Mushrooms
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves
  • 150 grams Cooked ham
  • 150 grams Cheddar cheese
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Milk
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Clean and finely chop the mushrooms. Mince the garlic cloves.

Step 3

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter with the olive oil. Add the garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the mushrooms to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook for about 6-8 minutes until softened and any moisture has evaporated. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Step 5

Finely dice the cooked ham and grate the cheddar cheese. Combine the ham, cheese, and cooked mushrooms in a mixing bowl. Stir well to combine.

Step 6

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets if needed, and cut each sheet into 4 equal squares.

Step 7

Place a heaping tablespoon of the filling mixture onto the center of each pastry square.

Step 8

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk to make an egg wash.

Step 9

Brush the edges of each pastry square with the egg wash, then fold the pastry over into triangles to enclose the filling. Press the edges together tightly with a fork to seal.

Step 10

Transfer the turnovers to the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops of the pastries with the remaining egg wash.

Step 11

Using a small knife, make a tiny slit or two on the surface of each turnover to allow steam to escape during baking.

Step 12

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the turnovers are golden brown and puffed. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
