Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground ham
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon dill, fresh and finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground ham, ground pork, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, ground mustard, and half the salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.

Step 3

Using your hands, shape the mixture into balls about 1.5 inches in diameter. This should yield approximately 18-20 ham balls.

Step 4

Place the formed ham balls into the prepared baking dish, ensuring they are evenly spaced.

Step 5

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, white vinegar, olive oil, and 1 tablespoon of water. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to bubble.

Step 6

Pour the sauce evenly over the ham balls in the baking dish.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the ham balls are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 160°F).

Step 8

While the ham balls are baking, prepare the mustard dill sauce. In a small saucepan, whisk together the Dijon mustard, heavy cream, dill, and remaining salt and pepper over low heat. Simmer gently for 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened.

Step 9

Once the ham balls are cooked, remove them from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes.

Step 10

Serve the ham balls warm, drizzled with the mustard dill sauce, and enjoy!
