Ingredients

  • 6 oz Strawberry-flavored Jell-O mix
  • 3 Unflavored gelatin packets
  • 3 cups Heavy cream
  • 3 drops Green food coloring (optional)
  • 3 cups Water
  • 100 Flexible plastic straws (with flex section)
  • 1 Tall container (to hold the straws upright)
  • 1 bottle Non-stick spray

Directions

Step 1

Spray the inside of the plastic straws with non-stick spray to facilitate easy removal of the 'worms' later.

Step 2

Bundle the straws together, ensuring the flexible ends are at the bottom to create the texture of the worms. Place the bundled straws into a tall container, ensuring they stand upright and close together.

Step 3

In a medium saucepan, combine 3 cups of water and the unflavored gelatin. Stir over low heat until the gelatin is completely dissolved.

Step 4

Add the strawberry-flavored Jell-O mix to the saucepan and stir until fully dissolved.

Step 5

Stir in the heavy cream and optional green food coloring (to create a more earthy, worm-like appearance). Mix until the color is evenly distributed.

Step 6

Pour the gelatin mixture into the tall container, ensuring the mixture fills the straws completely. Let it cool on the counter for about 20 minutes, then transfer the container to the refrigerator and chill for 3-4 hours or until fully set.

Step 7

Once set, remove the straws from the container. Run warm water briefly over the outside of a few straws at a time to loosen the gelatin.

Step 8

Grip one end of a straw and squeeze firmly from the flexible end to push the 'worm' out. Repeat for all the straws.

Step 9

Serve the 'worms' on a plate or pile them onto crushed cookie crumbs to mimic dirt for an extra creepy presentation!
