Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Fresh habanero peppers
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 2 pieces Garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 3 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoons Ground cayenne pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 cups Water

Directions

Step 1

Carefully deseed and roughly chop the habanero peppers. Use gloves to avoid irritation, as habaneros are very spicy.

Step 2

Mince the garlic cloves finely or press them using a garlic press.

Step 3

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until fully liquefied.

Step 4

Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for about 1–2 minutes, or until fragrant.

Step 5

Stir in the chopped habanero peppers and cook for another 2–3 minutes, allowing their flavors to release.

Step 6

Add the honey, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, soy sauce, cayenne pepper, salt, and water to the saucepan. Stir everything together until fully combined.

Step 7

Bring the mixture to a simmer, reduce the heat to low, and let it cook for 10–12 minutes until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally.

Step 8

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the sauce cool for a few minutes.

Step 9

Transfer the sauce to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Be cautious when blending hot liquids and ensure the blender lid is vented to release steam.

Step 10

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning as needed, adding more honey for sweetness or extra vinegar for tanginess.

Step 11

Use the sauce immediately to toss with freshly cooked chicken wings, or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
