  • 500 grams Chicken (bone-in or boneless)
  • 200 grams Plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger paste
  • 3 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 2 medium Onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 medium Tomatoes (finely chopped)
  • 2 large Green chilies (sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 250 milliliters Water
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, marinate the chicken with yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix well, cover, and set aside for at least 15 minutes.

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan or kadai over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for 30 seconds until aromatic.

Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until golden brown, about 7-8 minutes.

Stir in the garlic paste, ginger paste, and sliced green chilies. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
