Ingredients

  • 8 ounces Guava paste
  • 1 package Puff pastry
  • 4 ounces Cream cheese
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Sprinkle the flour on a clean surface. Unfold the puff pastry onto the floured surface, and roll it into a 12-inch square using a rolling pin.

Step 3

Cut the guava paste into rectangular slices that are about 1/4 inch thick, set them aside.

Step 4

Cut the cream cheese into small cubes, roughly 1/2 inch in size, and set aside.

Step 5

Cut the rolled-out puff pastry into 8 equal squares.

Step 6

Place one slice of guava paste and one cube of cream cheese on each square of puff pastry diagonally across the center.

Step 7

Fold one corner of the pastry square over the filling to the opposite corner, forming a triangle. Use the tines of a fork to press and seal the edges together.

Step 8

In a small bowl, beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water to create an egg wash.

Step 9

Brush the top of each sealed pastry with the egg wash using a pastry brush.

Step 10

Sprinkle each pastry with granulated sugar for a slightly sweet topping.

Step 11

Place the pastries onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each piece to allow for puffing.

Step 12

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed.

Step 13

Remove from the oven and let the pastries cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy your homemade guava pastries!
