Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 20 pieces Pepperoni slices
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 pound Pizza dough
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 small Onion, finely diced
  • 0.333 cup Tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Dried basil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 large Egg, beaten
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds, stirring frequently.

Step 4

Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.

Step 5

Stir in the tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Combine well and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.

Step 6

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 12x16 inches.

Step 7

Spread the ground beef mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.

Step 8

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the beef mixture.

Step 9

Lay the pepperoni slices evenly on top of the cheese.

Step 10

Starting from one long edge, tightly roll up the dough into a log. Pinch the seams and ends to seal the stromboli.

Step 11

Transfer the stromboli to the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down.

Step 12

Brush the beaten egg over the surface of the dough to create a golden finish when baked.

Step 13

Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top of the stromboli.

Step 14

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the stromboli is golden brown and cooked through.

Step 15

Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Slice into thick pieces and serve warm.
