Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons Milk
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 4 slices White sandwich bread
  • 4 slices Deli-sliced ham
  • 4 slices Deli-sliced turkey
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoons Mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoons Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Raspberry preserves (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, ground cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Set aside.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix the Dijon mustard and mayonnaise until well combined.

Step 3

Lay out the slices of bread. Spread the mustard-mayo mixture evenly on one side of each slice.

Step 4

On two slices of bread (spread side up), layer 2 slices of ham, 2 slices of turkey, and 2 slices of Swiss cheese. Top each sandwich with the remaining bread slices, spread side down, to form two sandwiches.

Step 5

Press the sandwiches gently together to help them hold their shape.

Step 6

Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add the butter. Allow it to melt and coat the cooking surface evenly.

Step 7

Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides thoroughly but not oversaturate.

Step 8

Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted. Adjust heat as necessary to prevent burning.

Step 9

Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and transfer them to a cutting board. Slice each sandwich in half diagonally.

Step 10

Dust the top of each sandwich lightly with powdered sugar for a touch of sweetness.

Step 11

Serve warm, optionally with a side of raspberry preserves for dipping or spreading.
