Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 medium yellow onion
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves
  • 0.5 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) cannellini beans
  • 1 bunch kale or Swiss chard
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 0.25 cups parmesan cheese
  • 4 slices bread, crusty

Directions

Step 1

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.

Step 2

Remove the casings from the Italian sausage if needed, and crumble the sausage into the pan. Cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Transfer the sausage to a plate and set aside.
