Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 500 grams ground beef or ground lamb
  • 1 can (400 grams) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 300 grams penne pasta
  • 150 grams feta cheese, crumbled
  • 50 grams parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).

Step 2

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Step 3

In a large sauté pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute, stirring frequently.

Step 4

Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef or lamb to the pan. Cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, ground cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
