Ingredients

  • 3 medium Granny Smith apples
  • 2.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups Brown sugar
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 cups Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray and lightly dust with flour. Set aside.

Step 2

Peel, core, and dice the Granny Smith apples into small chunks. Set them aside.

Step 3

In a large bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and both granulated sugar and brown sugar using a hand or stand mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.

Step 5

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt.

Step 6

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in thirds, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

Step 7

Fold the diced Granny Smith apples into the batter gently using a spatula.

Step 8

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.

Step 9

Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 10

Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 11

Optional: Dust the cooled cake with powdered sugar before serving.
