Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 4 slices Pepper jack cheese
  • 4 pcs Burger buns
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 large Onion (sliced)
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 0.5 cup Chipotle mayo
  • 4 pcs Lettuce leaves
  • 8 pcs Tomato slices
  • 8 slices Pickles (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and form patties slightly larger than the size of your buns.

Step 2

Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Drizzle with olive oil to prevent sticking.

Step 3

Place the beef patties onto the hot surface. Cook for 3-4 minutes on the first side, then flip.

Step 4

Add a slice of pepper jack cheese on top of each patty. Cover the skillet or close the grill lid to melt the cheese. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the patties reach your desired level of doneness.

Step 5

In a separate skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden and caramelized (about 10 minutes). Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 6

Lightly butter the insides of the burger buns and toast them on a skillet or grill until golden brown.

Step 7

To assemble the burgers, spread chipotle mayo on the bottom bun. Layer with a lettuce leaf, two slices of tomato, a beef patty with melted cheese, caramelized onions, and pickles (if using). Top with the upper half of the bun.

Step 8

Serve immediately with your favorite sides, like fries or a fresh salad.
