Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 medium (diced) onion
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cups milk
  • 1 large (beaten) egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 cups ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, diced onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently using your hands until all ingredients are well incorporated. Be careful not to overmix, as it can make the meatloaf tough.

Step 3

Transfer the meat mixture to the prepared loaf pan and press it down gently to evenly shape it into a loaf.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard to create the glaze.

Step 5

Spread half of the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf, reserving the other half for later.

Step 6

Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes.

Step 7

Remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the remaining glaze on top. Return it to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 8

Allow the meatloaf to rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Step 9

Serve your good old meatloaf with mashed potatoes or a side of vegetables for a comforting meal!
