Directions

Step 1

Rinse the basmati rice thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear. This removes surface starch and prevents the rice from becoming too sticky.

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, 2 cups of water, and 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder. Stir to mix, bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes until the rice is fully cooked and fluffy.
