Ingredients

  • 1 sheet Puff pastry sheet
  • 200 grams Goat cheese
  • 250 grams Cremini or button mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Heavy cream
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon All-purpose flour (for dusting)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle approximately 12x10 inches. Transfer it onto the prepared baking sheet.

Step 3

Using a sharp knife, carefully score a 1-inch border around the edges of the puff pastry without cutting all the way through. This will help create a raised crust for the tart.

Step 4

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic (minced) and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 5

Add the mushrooms (sliced) to the skillet and sauté for 5-7 minutes until they are softened and golden brown. Stir in the fresh thyme, salt, and black pepper, then remove the skillet from heat.

Step 6

In a small bowl, whisk together the goat cheese, egg, and heavy cream until smooth.

Step 7

Spread the goat cheese mixture evenly onto the puff pastry within the scored border.

Step 8

Distribute the sautéed mushrooms evenly over the goat cheese layer.

Step 9

Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed around the edges.

Step 10

Remove the tart from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing into rectangles or squares.

Step 11

Serve warm as an appetizer or with a side salad for a light meal.
