Ingredients

  • 500 grams Beef (boneless, cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 2 medium Onions (finely chopped)
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger (grated)
  • 0.5 teaspoons Turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Garam masala
  • 2 medium Tomatoes (chopped)
  • 200 ml Coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon Tamarind pulp
  • 200 ml Water
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves (chopped)

Directions

Step 1

Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a large pan over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown, about 6-8 minutes.

Step 3

Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.

Step 4

Mix in the turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and red chili powder. Cook the spices for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent burning.

Step 5

Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they break down and form a thick paste, about 6-8 minutes.

Step 6

Add the beef pieces to the pan and stir well to coat them with the spice mixture.

Step 7

Pour in 200 ml of water and add 1 teaspoon of salt. Cover and simmer on low heat for 35-40 minutes, or until the beef is tender, stirring occasionally.

Step 8

Once the beef is cooked, reduce the heat and stir in the coconut milk and tamarind pulp. Let the curry simmer for another 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

Step 9

Sprinkle garam masala on top and give it a final stir. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
