Ingredients

  • 3 cups Gluten-free all-purpose flour with xanthan gum
  • 1 packet Instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1.5 cups Warm water (110°F or 43°C)
  • 2 large Egg whites
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Honey (for boiling water)
  • 0 to taste Optional toppings (e.g., sesame seeds, poppy seeds, garlic flakes)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the gluten-free flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Stir to mix the dry ingredients evenly.

Step 2

Add the warm water, egg whites, and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly until a dough forms. The dough will be sticky but pliable.

Step 3

Lightly sprinkle a clean surface or cutting board with some gluten-free flour. Transfer the dough onto the surface and knead gently for about 2 minutes until smooth.

Step 4

Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then shape into a bagel by poking a hole in the center with your fingers and gently stretching it to form a ring.

Step 5

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the bagels on it. Cover loosely with a clean kitchen towel and let them rest for 20 minutes while you prepare the boiling water.

Step 6

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bring a large pot of water to a gentle boil and stir in the honey.

Step 7

Using a slotted spoon, carefully drop each bagel into the boiling water, one or two at a time. Boil for 1 minute on each side. Remove and place back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.

Step 8

If desired, sprinkle toppings over the bagels while they are still damp from boiling.

Step 9

Bake the bagels in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and firm to the touch.

Step 10

Allow the bagels to cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before slicing and enjoying.
