Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups Gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Cocoa powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.75 cups Granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cups Buttermilk
  • 2 whole Large eggs
  • 1.25 cups Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon Red food coloring
  • 4 ounces Cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Milk
  • 0.5 teaspoons Vanilla extract (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, sift together the gluten-free all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Step 3

In a large bowl, beat together the sugar, buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until thoroughly combined.

Step 4

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 5

Transfer the batter to a piping bag and pipe into the prepared donut pan, filling each mold about three-quarters full.

Step 6

Bake the donuts in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a donut comes out clean.

Step 7

Remove from the oven and let the donuts cool in the pan for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 8

While the donuts are cooling, prepare the glaze by beating together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

Step 9

Once the donuts are cooled, dip the top of each one into the cream cheese glaze. Allow any excess glaze to drip off before placing them back onto the wire rack.

Step 10

Serve and enjoy your gluten-free red velvet donuts with coffee or as a dessert!
