Ingredients

  • 2 cups Gluten-Free All-Purpose Flour
  • 0.75 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon Xanthan Gum
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 0.5 cup Sour Cream
  • 0.25 cup Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2 cups Vegetable Oil, for frying

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the gluten-free all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and xanthan gum. Whisk together until well combined.

Step 2

In a separate bowl, mix together the milk, sour cream, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Step 3

Gradually add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until a thick dough forms.

Step 4

Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up the dough.

Step 5

While the dough is chilling, heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat to 350°F (175°C).

Step 6

Once the dough is set, lightly flour a work surface with gluten-free flour. Roll the dough out to about 1/2 inch thickness.

Step 7

Use a donut cutter to cut out the donuts and holes, re-rolling scraps as necessary.

Step 8

Carefully place a few donuts at a time into the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.

Step 9

Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried donuts to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Step 10

Allow the donuts to cool slightly before glazing or dusting with powdered sugar, if desired.
