Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 large Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium Carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 Celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 500 grams Ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste
  • 125 ml Red wine
  • 800 grams Crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 125 ml Whole milk
  • 400 grams Gluten-free pasta
  • 10 leaves Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Directions

Step 1

Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery to the pot. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are soft, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 3

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the pot. Cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until browned all over, about 8-10 minutes.

Step 5

Stir in the tomato paste and cook for another 2 minutes until the paste darkens slightly.

Step 6

Pour in the red wine and let it simmer for about 3-4 minutes, allowing the alcohol to evaporate and the flavors to meld.

Step 7

Add the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Stir well to combine.

Step 8

Reduce the heat to low, cover partially, and let the sauce simmer gently for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 9

Once the sauce has simmered, stir in the whole milk and let it cook for another 10-15 minutes uncovered, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.

Step 10

Meanwhile, cook the gluten-free pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 11

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Step 12

Serve the Bolognese sauce over the cooked gluten-free pasta. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
