Ingredients

  • 400 grams spaghetti
  • 450 grams shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 6 pieces garlic cloves (minced)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 0.5 teaspoons red chili flakes
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tablespoons parsley (chopped)
  • 1 to taste salt
  • 1 to taste black pepper
  • 1 to taste grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water, then drain and set the spaghetti aside.

Step 2

While the spaghetti is cooking, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter.

Step 5

Once the butter has melted, add the minced garlic and red chili flakes. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant but not browned.

Step 6

Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and add the lemon juice. Toss everything together to combine.

Step 7

Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet along with the reserved pasta water and the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter. Toss to coat the spaghetti in the sauce.

Step 8

Stir in the chopped parsley and adjust the seasoning with more salt and black pepper if necessary.

Step 9

Remove the skillet from the heat and divide the Garlic Shrimp Spaghetti among serving plates.

Step 10

Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired, and serve immediately.
