Ingredients

  • 1 pound raw large shrimp
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 0.5 teaspoons cumin
  • 0.25 teaspoons red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Peel and devein the shrimp if they are not already prepared. Pat them dry with paper towels and set aside.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix together the lime juice, lime zest, honey, cumin, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and butter, allowing the butter to melt completely.

Step 4

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.

Step 5

Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Season them with salt and black pepper. Cook for 2–3 minutes on one side until they turn pink and slightly opaque.

Step 6

Flip the shrimp and pour the prepared lime juice mixture over them. Cook for another 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the shrimp are fully cooked and coated in the sauce.

Step 7

Remove the skillet from heat and sprinkle the chopped cilantro over the shrimp. Stir gently to combine.

Step 8

Transfer the shrimp to a serving plate and drizzle the remaining sauce from the skillet over the top.

Step 9

Serve immediately as an appetizer or over your favorite side, such as rice, pasta, or salad. Enjoy!
