Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 1.5 cups Warm water
  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon Chopped fresh thyme
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon Chopped fresh chives
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons Butter, melted (optional for brushing)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let sit for 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.

Step 2

Add olive oil, salt, and garlic powder to the yeast mixture and stir to combine.

Step 3

Gradually add 3 cups of flour to the mixture, one cup at a time, stirring with a wooden spoon until a sticky dough forms.

Step 4

Mix in the chopped rosemary, thyme, parsley, and chives.

Step 5

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead, adding the remaining flour as needed, for about 8-10 minutes or until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Step 6

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Step 7

Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf or divide it into smaller rolls, depending on your preference.

Step 8

Place the shaped dough on a greased baking sheet or loaf pan and let it rise again for 30-40 minutes until puffy.

Step 9

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 10

Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.

Step 11

If desired, brush the top with melted butter immediately after removing it from the oven for extra flavor and shine.

Step 12

Cool on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
