Ingredients

  • 2 medium Apples
  • 2 medium Pears
  • 1 cup Dried apricots
  • 0.5 cup Raisins
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 0.75 cup Brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Water

Directions

Step 1

Peel, core, and dice the apples and pears into small cubes.

Step 2

Roughly chop the dried apricots and finely dice the onion, garlic, and ginger.

Step 3

In a large saucepan, combine the apples, pears, dried apricots, raisins, and onion.

Step 4

Add the brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, ginger, garlic, cinnamon, cloves, salt, and water to the saucepan. Stir to combine.

Step 5

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 6

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the chutney simmer uncovered for 40-45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the fruits are softened and the mixture has thickened.

Step 7

Taste and adjust seasoning as needed (add more sugar for sweetness or vinegar for tanginess).

Step 8

Remove the chutney from the heat and let it cool slightly before transferring it to sterilized jars if preserving, or to a serving dish if using immediately.

Step 9

Store refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 4 weeks.
