Ingredients

  • 24 pieces Won ton wrappers
  • 0.5 pounds Ground pork
  • 3 stalks Green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoons Sesame oil
  • 1 small Carrot, finely grated
  • 1 large Egg, beaten
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water

Directions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated carrot, and cornstarch. Mix thoroughly until well combined.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix the water and the beaten egg to create an egg wash.

Step 3

Lay out a won ton wrapper on a clean, flat surface. Place a heaping teaspoon of the filling mixture in the center of the wrapper.

Step 4

Brush the edges of the won ton wrapper with a small amount of the egg wash to help seal it.

Step 5

Fold the wrapper in half diagonally to form a triangle, enclosing the filling, and press the edges tightly to seal. Ensure there are no air pockets around the filling.

Step 6

Optional: Fold the two corners of the triangle towards the center to create an envelope shape, and press gently to seal.

Step 7

Repeat this process with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Step 8

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (180°C). Ensure there is enough oil to submerge the won tons completely.

Step 9

Carefully place 4-5 won tons in the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.

Step 10

Fry the won tons for 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a plate lined with paper towels.

Step 11

Repeat with the remaining won tons.

Step 12

Serve the fried won ton envelopes hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, or a garlic vinegar dip.
