Ingredients

  • 12 pieces Frog legs
  • 480 ml Buttermilk
  • 240 g All-purpose flour
  • 120 g Cornmeal
  • 15 g Cajun seasoning
  • 5 g Garlic powder
  • 5 g Paprika
  • 5 g Salt
  • 3 g Black pepper
  • 960 ml Vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the frog legs under cold running water and pat them dry with paper towels.

Step 2

Place the frog legs in a large bowl and pour the buttermilk over them. Cover the bowl and let the legs soak in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to tenderize and reduce the gamey flavor.

Step 3

In a shallow bowl, mix together the flour, cornmeal, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Step 4

Remove the frog legs from the buttermilk and allow excess buttermilk to drip off. Coat each leg thoroughly in the flour mixture, gently pressing to ensure it adheres well.

Step 5

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the temperature by dropping a small piece of bread into the oil; it should sizzle and turn golden quickly.

Step 6

Working in batches to prevent overcrowding, carefully place the coated frog legs into the hot oil. Fry for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Use tongs to flip them gently.

Step 7

Once cooked, transfer the fried frog legs to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 8

Serve the fried frog legs immediately with your preferred dipping sauce, such as aioli, ranch dressing, or a spicy Cajun remoulade.
