Ingredients

  • 500 grams Fresh asparagus
  • 3 tablespoons Oyster sauce
  • 2 pieces Garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 50 milliliters Water
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 1 piece Red chili (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Wash the asparagus under cold running water. Trim the woody ends (about 1-2 cm) and cut the stalks into 5 cm (2-inch) pieces.

Step 2

Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix the oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, water, and cornstarch until well combined. Set aside.

Step 4

Heat a large pan or wok over medium heat and add the vegetable oil.

Step 5

Once the oil is hot, add the minced garlic and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.

Step 6

Add the asparagus pieces to the pan and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, or until they are bright green and slightly tender but still crisp.

Step 7

Pour in the oyster sauce mixture and continue to cook, tossing the asparagus to coat evenly, for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Step 8

Drizzle with sesame oil for added flavor and mix well.

Step 9

Transfer the asparagus to a serving plate and garnish with thinly sliced red chili if desired.

Step 10

Serve warm as a side dish with steamed rice or your favorite main course.
