Ingredients

  • 400 grams penne pasta
  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3 whole garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 0.5 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to boil and cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 2

Finely chop the onion and garlic cloves. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the onion to the skillet and sauté for 2-3 minutes until translucent. Add the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.

Step 5

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and red chili flakes (if using). Simmer the sauce for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 6

In a separate small saucepan over low heat, combine the ricotta cheese, cream cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, and parmesan cheese.

Step 7

Slowly add the milk to the cheese mixture, whisking constantly until smooth and creamy. Remove the cheese sauce from heat.

Step 8

Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).

Step 9

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the beef and tomato sauce. Mix until well coated.

Step 10

Transfer half of the pasta mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the pasta and spread evenly. Repeat with the remaining pasta mixture and cheese sauce.

Step 11

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the top is bubbly and golden.

Step 12

Remove from the oven and sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Step 13

Serve hot and enjoy your Four Cheese Pasta Beef!
