Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 0.33 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 2 stalks green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Place the thinly sliced beef in a mixing bowl. Add the cornstarch and toss until all the beef slices are evenly coated. Set aside.

Step 2

In a small bowl, prepare the sauce by whisking together the soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sriracha sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red chili flakes. Set the bowl aside.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to the pan.

Step 4

Working in batches, fry the beef slices in the hot oil for 1-2 minutes per side, until browned and just cooked through. Remove the beef and set it aside on a plate.

Step 5

In the same skillet or wok, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and pour in the prepared sauce. Bring the sauce to a simmer while stirring constantly.

Step 6

Return the cooked beef slices to the skillet, tossing them in the sauce to coat evenly. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the beef absorbs the sauce and everything is heated through.

Step 7

Sprinkle the sliced green onions and sesame seeds (if using) over the beef. Serve immediately with steamed rice or vegetables.
