Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 tsp Ground cumin
  • 1 tsp Chili powder
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 4 slices Pepper jack cheese slices
  • 4 buns Brioche burger buns
  • 0.5 cup Salsa
  • 0.5 cup Guacamole
  • 4 leaves Lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices Tomato slices
  • 0.25 cup Pickled jalapeños
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands until the spices are evenly incorporated. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 2

Divide the seasoned beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties about ¾ inch thick, pressing a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Step 3

Heat a grill pan or outdoor grill over medium-high heat. Brush the grates or pan lightly with olive oil to prevent sticking.

Step 4

Place the burger patties on the grill and cook for about 4 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F for medium-well doneness.

Step 5

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of pepper jack cheese on each patty. Close the grill lid or cover with a pan lid to allow the cheese to melt completely.

Step 6

Lightly toast the brioche burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers by spreading 1-2 tablespoons of guacamole on the bottom half of each bun. Place a lettuce leaf on top, followed by a slice of tomato, the cooked burger patty with melted cheese, and a spoonful of salsa.

Step 8

Add a few pickled jalapeño slices for an extra kick, if desired, and finish with the top half of the bun.

Step 9

Serve immediately with your favorite sides, such as sweet potato fries or a fresh salad.
