Ingredients

  • 1 lb white fish (such as cod or tilapia)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp chili powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1 whole lime
  • 8 pieces small flour or corn tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded red cabbage
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 0.5 cup fresh cilantro (chopped)
  • 0.5 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp hot sauce (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) or prepare a non-stick skillet for stovetop cooking.

Step 2

Pat the fish dry with paper towels and cut it into smaller fillets if necessary for even cooking.

Step 3

In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, smoked paprika, ground cumin, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to make a spice rub.

Step 4

Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the fish fillets.

Step 5

If baking: Place the seasoned fish on a lightly greased baking sheet and roast for 8–10 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork. If pan-frying: Heat a little olive oil in your skillet and cook the fish for 3–4 minutes on each side, or until cooked through.

Step 6

While the fish cooks, prepare the lime crema by mixing the sour cream (or Greek yogurt), lime juice, and hot sauce (if using) in a small bowl. Set aside.

Step 7

Warm the tortillas by wrapping them in foil and placing them in the oven for 5 minutes, or by heating them in a dry skillet over medium heat for 30 seconds on each side.

Step 8

Assemble the tacos by spreading a dollop of lime crema on each tortilla. Top with a piece of cooked fish, shredded red cabbage, diced tomatoes, and chopped cilantro.

Step 9

Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side for extra zing!
